Shannon Skolaut is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who embraces a holistic and humanistic approach to healthcare. Shannon believes that the body and mind must be treated together as one. She encompasses an approach toward wellness that must be individualized, and each person must be treated based off their individual strengths, abilities, and treatment goals.

 

Shannon embraces an empathetic, compassionate, non-discriminatory, and culturally centered approach to medicine and care.

 

Shannon is a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner through the International Association of Forensic Nursing and specializes in treating sexual assault survivors in both the acute and chronic stages of trauma. Shannon is passionate about treating this population and aiding in recovery after these traumatic experiences. Other professional areas of interest are LGBTQ+ youth/adolescence/adults and treating adolescence with a variety of mental illnesses. She accepts patients with a variety of disorders including PTSD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, ADHD and substance use.

Shannon’s goal is to provide care that embraces the holistic person while nurturing a collaborative patient-provider relationship that helps the client achieve all of their mental health goals. She believes in positive change and her aim is to help her clients live their lives to the fullest.

 

Shannon graduated with her Master of Science in nursing from Regis College in Westin, Massachusetts with a specialization as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Before receiving her Nurse Practitioner license Shannon spent eight years working inpatient psych at an acute psychiatric hospital. She treated children through geriatrics in a wide variety of areas including mood disorders, duo-diagnosis, acute psychosis, and Electro-Convulsive Therapy Treatments.

 

Shannon enjoys many activities outside of work that include hiking, traveling, creating and exploring art, dance, music and spending time with her children. Shannon is open to seeing patients ages 13 – 65 years old.
